COMPUTER GURU

We all live in a metropolitan and lead a comfortable life- using computers and laptops by using them as our many alternatives to communicate with the world. We send e-mails and chat on social networking sites and find it easier to stay in contact with our friends.

But there are still some regions in India where using a computer describes the qualification of a person. The person who knows how to use the computer is considered to be a person with a lot of brain!!!!!!!!

I am not writing this blog by studying from any article. I have experienced this situation.

Some months back I went to the TIRWA district of Uttar Pradesh. The things which I am going to tell you now may or may not amaze you but as far as I am concerned, I was seriously shocked when I saw all this.

This is the story of a 26 year old boy named Sumit. He owns a cyber cafe which is the only one of its kind in the whole district. Just because of his knowledge of computers he is given as much importance as any political leader. He is considered as the most knowledgeable person in the entire district. He has been invited to the inauguration of several events. From his cafe, he earns about Rs. 25000-30000 every month. He earns this amount by sending the e-mails of people to their relatives living in cities or other countries and by giving them computer training. Shocking, is it??

He charges Rs. 200-250 just for sending an e-mail if it is to be sent anywhere in INDIA and if it is to be sent abroad like in USA or somewhere else then the charges may reach up to Rs. 500.

If there is a fault in the computer set up in any government bank then he is paid for fixing that. People there are so illiterate that they don't understand the problem if the internet connection does not work.

Once, a bank officer tried to make a customer understand that the transaction could not be done because the server was down. Then the reply that came was- tera server down ho ya ghar bar down ho mujhe mera paisa abhi chahiye nahi to tod dunga sab. The situation was going out of control when the computer guru was called who made the customers understand in his own way why the server was not working.

This is the condition of our country. It is a just an example but there are still many live incidents taking place in rural areas all the time. We may reach up till the skies....but our country will not develop as long as rural areas are not made to develop....
